The Tablet Game – Microsoft Surface

It was great to see today that Microsoft has now entered the tablet market in a big way. To me this was a logical and much anticipated step as third party venders running Microsoft Software are currently running inferior technologies when trying to compete against the dominance of the iPad.

The major difference that Microsoft should be concerned with centres around the App Store of Apple. It is this that often sets other non-apple devices apart. Having said this, it is important to realise that Microsoft has recently been spending large amounts of money on app developers and this should make for a fast rise as long as again they get the fundamentals right.

The specs include:

  • A full-sized USB port and a 16:9 aspect ratio angled at 22 degrees.
  • 10.6″, 16:9 widescreen HD Display.
  • Integrated Kickstand: Built-in kickstand lets users move Surface from active use to passive consumption.
  • Touch Cover: 3 mm pressure-sensitive Touch Cover senses keystrokes as gestures will come in different colors.
